Pigment Violet RL is a purple powder used for coloring coatings, inks, rubber and plastics, and dope coloring of synthetic fibers. The parent body of this class of pigments is triphenyldioxazine, which itself is orange and has no value as a pigment. Its 9,10-dichloro derivative can be used as a purple pigment after pigmentation.
